Investigation Process

Create an account or log in to save your progress and recieve a certificate of completion.

When there is going to be an investigation both parties need information about how the investigation will be conducted.

If the employer is aware that there has been an incident of workplace harassment it must be investigated. The employer may be aware of harassment because of a complaint made by someone in the workplace or through other means.

Both the alleged harasser and the complainant should be provided with information about who will investigate and how the investigation will be conducted. This might be in the workplace’s Harassment Prevention Policy or be part of the form used for complaints. If you are involved in an investigation and you are not sure how it will be conducted ask your employer for more information.

An investigation can be conducted by:

  • The employer or someone else in the workplace appointed by the employer.
  • An Independent third party.
  • Occupational Health and Safety.

PLEA offers free online training on preventing and addressing workplace harassment.
