Workplace Harassment Prevention Training

With funding from the Department of Justice Canada, PLEA has created online training for employees and employers on recognizing, preventing and addressing harassment in the workplace. This training includes information specific to workplace sexual harassment.

There is targeted training for employees and employers in both federally regulated and provincially regulated workplaces.

This online training is provided free-of-charge and participants who successfully complete the training will receive a certificate of completion.

This training is also available in print and can be ordered from plea.org free-of-charge.

Workplace harassment can be a hard topic for some people because of their experiences. A list of resources and services for people dealing with workplace harassment is included. Employers are encouraged to supplement it with any community or industry-specific supports they are aware of.

Who is this training for?

This training is for everyone in the workplace.

Employers, supervisors and managers need to know what is considered workplace harassment so they can recognize it, address it and prevent it.

Employees need to know what is considered workplace harassment so they can refrain from these behaviours, recognize when they happen and know what to do when they experience or see workplace harassment.

GOALS

After completing this training participants will understand:

  • How workplace harassment is defined under occupational health and safety laws and human rights laws.
  • The responsibilities of people in the workplace regarding workplace harassment.
  • The requirement for prevention policies and what must be included in one.
  • How complaints about workplace harassment can be made and the process for dealing with a complaint.
  • The role Occupational Health and Safety plays in preventing and addressing workplace harassment.
  • When workplace harassment is discrimination under human rights laws and how human rights complaints are made and resolved.
  • When workplace harassment is a crime and the remedies available under criminal law.

Choosing a Training

Most workplaces in Saskatchewan are covered by provincial laws. Some workplaces are covered by federal laws because they are a federally regulated industry such as a bank or an airline. Once you determine whether your workplace is provincially or federally regulated you can select the training that applies to you.
