Harassment in the workplace based on a prohibited ground is a recognized form of discrimination under the Canadian Human Rights Act. The Canadian Human Rights Commission can investigate harassment complaints.
Once the Canadian Human Rights Commission has accepted a complaint the resolution process begins. There are a number of ways a complaint can be resolved.
The Canadian Human Rights Commission can refer a case to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.
If the matter cannot be resolved through mediation there will be a hearing in front of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.
