Training

Create an account or log in to save your progress and recieve a certificate of completion.

The employer, employees and any person the employer designates to receive complaints about workplace violence or harassment must take training.

The training can be developed by the employer and their partner. The employer and their partner can also identify existing training to use.

The employer and their partner must review the training and if necessary update it at least once every 3 years. It must also be reviewed anytime there is a change to any part of the training.

The training must be specific to the culture, conditions and activities of the workplace and include the following information:

  • The elements of the Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Policy.
  • A description of the relationship between workplace harassment and violence and the prohibited grounds of discrimination in the Canadian Human Rights Act.
  • A description of how to recognize, minimize, prevent and respond to workplace harassment and violence.

Employers need to take the training once every 3 years. A person designated to receive complaints must take the training before they start receiving complaints and every 3 years after that.

Employees need to take the training within 3 months of being hired and then once every 3 years. Employees also need to take the training if it is updated or their assignment changes and that change means there is an increased or specific risk of workplace harassment or violence.
